Celina Shands, M.S.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Celina approaches business like a true southerner—relationships first, business second—and surrounds herself with a great team that is committed to excellence on each and every project. With a B.S in Business and Marketing, Celina’s passion for empowering organizations to excel shines in every aspect of her organization—the 2017 Best Public Sector Marketing and Communications Company awarded by the California State Business Awards. Celina is the 2017 Marketing CEO of the Year in the Pacific Coast USA, a former American Marketing Association’s Marketer of the Year recipient, and is a two-time Women Who Mean Business Finalist.

Carm has been a contributing board member for several private and public companies. He has served on the Owners Association Boards of Sterlingwood, Bald Eagle, Bellemont, Rancho Santa Fe Groves and Laguna Royale. He has been involved with fundraising for cancer research and treatment; he and his wife Nancy spearheaded a successful fund raising campaign at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange Country CA. They have been founding contributors to the Park City and Orange County Performing Arts Centers and the SOS Foundation for the Egyptian Theater.
Retired Manager, San Dieg Padres
Baseball and teamwork have been the foundation for Buddy Black’s professional career where he played 15 years in the Major League, mostly as a starting pitcher, and amassed a 121-116 career mark with a 3.84 ERA. Buddy earned a World Series ring with the Royals in 1985, and has also pitched for the Indians, Blue Jays and Giants. As the Anaheim Angel’s pitching coach for the last seven years, Black has counseled, mentored and coached the staff with great success, including a second World Series ring in 2002. In 2006, he accepted the position of the San Diego Padres general manager.
Phoebe Chongchua is the founder of Livefit. She created her business to help people lead successful, healthy, enriched lives. She offers coaching motivational speaking and seminars on nutrition, fitness, relationships, single parenting and more. Phoebe has 13 plus years of experience in the broadcast industry. In 1990, she began as a News Reporter for KGTV/10News and quickly rose to a News Anchor for the top-rated Morning Show in San Diego. Phoebe then became the Community Affairs Specialist, heading up TEAM10, the station’s Community Affairs Division, reporting on community projects.
Center for Employment Training
Dora Mendivil is the Center Director for San Diego’s Center for Employment Training (CET), an organization that she has contributed to for over thirteen years in various locations including Yuma, Riverside and San Diego. Representing the San Diego Hispanic community, Dora was nominated by Congressman Randy Cunningham to attend the first “Hispanic Leadership Summit” and the “Asian Hispanic Opportunity Conference” in Washington, D.C. A graduate of the University of Baja California with a Bachelor Degree in Administration, Dora has over 20 years experience in Administration and Education in both the U.S. and Mexico.
Robert K. Ross, M.D.
The California Endowment
Robert K. Ross, M.D., is president and chief executive officer for The California Endowment, a health foundation established in 1996 to address the health needs of Californians. Prior to his appointment in September 2000, Dr. Ross served as director of the Health and Human Services Agency for the County of San Diego from 1993 to 2000. Dr. Ross has an extensive background as a clinician and public health administrator. His service includes: Commissioner, Philadelphia Department of Health; medical director for LINK School-Based Clinic Program, Camden, New Jersey; instructor of clinical medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; and faculty member at San Diego State University’s School of Public Health.
