Youth Workforce Video Takes the Silver
November, 2012

San Diego, CA — The Young Adult Internship Program’s (YAIP) youth video was selected for the 2012 Davey Awards, an annual competition judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA). The project was a collaboration between Full Capacity Marketing, Inc. (FCM), the Workforce Professionals Training Institute, and New York City’s (NYC) Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) - - part of Mayor Bloomberg’s Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO). The YAIP is an innovative program that connects NYC businesses with subsidized youth workforce talent, and trains motivated young people for career readiness and internships. FCM developed a series of educational, humorous videos to help youth adapt to the culture of corporate environment.

FCM President/CEO, Celina Shands Gradijan said, “The YAIP project is an exceptional program and does an outstanding job of preparing youth for the world of work — not an easy task in this labor market where youth unemployment rates are twice that of the general population.”

The video to help youth adapt to the corporate culture involved the YAIP youth as “actors” showcasing what to do, and not to do, in the workplace.  FCM Creative Director, Ivan Freaner said, “We set out to create a video that would not only engage but create something that was fun and memorable. The participants loved being a part of the production and just made the video shine.”

With nearly 4,000 entries from across the U.S. and around the world, the Davey Awards honors the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide. “This year’s winners truly represent a smart, nimble approach to creativity and embody the quick thinking, resourceful nature that make small agencies so unique,” said Linda Day, executive director of the IAVA. She added, “On behalf of the entire International Academy of Visual Arts, I want to thank this year’s Davey Awards entrants and winners for sharing their amazing capabilities and talents, allowing us to once again highlight the best small firms worldwide.”

This is FCM’s second Davey in the past two years; the 2011 Davey was for the Workforce Investment Work campaign. For more information about FCM and its services for government and nonprofit organizations, go to www.FullCapacityMarketing.com. Click here to download the Davey Award Fact Sheet.
